Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

In English class, I'm reading the novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"

and I find it very interesting,
I mean even though we all know Dr. Jekyll is Mr. Hyde,

Their is something truly sinister, about having an alternate ego that has beef with the world itself,
Someone who is rubbing their hands together in the back of your mind, waiting to be released.

But it seems to me Mr. Hyde is just an amped up version of whats going on in Dr. Jekyll mind.
but its almost as If Mr. Hyde is becoming another person, separate from Dr. Jekyll.
Sorta like parting your hair right down the middle...
and maybe Dr. Jekyll is hiding the fact that hes more like Mr. Hyde to begin with, maybe that's his real self.
and Dr. Jekyll is the alternate ego.
Its somewhat confusing, and I promise not to think of it too much, because If I do I may slowly go insane.
